Neos Marmaras

In the broad area of Neos Marmaras, anyone can meet a variety of goods and services.  There are about a 100 contemporary hospitality units, supermarkets, folklore items selling points, restaurants, bars, clubs, car rental companies, taxi, health services and a number of other services providers. There are three private foreign languages schools and a tutorial school, school of Tai Kwo Do, gyms and diving school. There is also a Football Club, called Propontis, and Basketball Club, named AOK N.Marmara, with pubertal, boyish and female’s groups.

The Cultural and Folklore Center ‘Proikonnisos’ runs a number of activities with the most important the annual festival named ‘Memories from the Old Homeland’, where the visitor experience’s the representation of the matchmaking-engagement ring and the wedding that have been taken place in the ‘Unforgettably Homeland’ . At the same time, exhibitions of traditional residence, photography, books and documents, religious equipments and paintings, sea shells and agricultural materials collections, marriage portions etc. At the Cultural and Folklore Center, there are also chorus, traditional dance and music departments.

Moreover, there are another two significant cultural accusations in the area. The first one is established by the ‘new’ people came from the village of Parthenonas, called ‘The New Partheniotes’ (means the new people from Parthenonas), and the second by the old residents of Parthenonas, called ‘The Parthenon’, the  that organizes the annual celebration in 27th of July.

Although Neos Marmars is a quite new village and there is no any ancient monument in its territory, in the closed area, anyone can meet a variety of ancient monuments and places, since the area of Halkidiki has rich ancient and contemporary history.  The traveler can visit the Petralona Cave, the historical sites of Toroni, Stagira, Olynthos, Akanthos, Potidaia etc and a number of Byzantine monuments, particularly at the Holy Mountain of Athos.
